Slow Computer Startup – Fixing Windows Boot Performance

Computer Maintenance

Common techniques and software utilities to apply to slow Windows startup performance. Taking implimenting these will speed up your computer.

Automate slow computer startup using software to sped up your computer.
One of the simpler ways to slow Windows startup performance improvement is to run an automatic repair tool to optimize settings and download/install the latest DLL/device drivers and operating system files for you.

There are also registry editors, but this focus is on only optimizing registry settings. Slow startup performance may improve if it is due to OS application files.

Manual approaches to improving slow startup speed
The key to improvement of slow Windows startup speeds is to (I) the restriction of the number of requests that have been initialized and (ii) improving the performance of those who have been enabled.

The program Microsoft System Configuration (start-> run -> type msconfig) has a Startup tab in which all applications initialized by Windows, such as startup.Use this tab to select the check boxes to disable/enable ever which programs you don't want to run at startup. This tool can be used for Windows 7/Vista/Windows XP slow startup performance improvements.

A condition for using msconfig is always make sure that you only disable applications that you are happy to turn off  in the Services section that you don't need running (i.e. they are non-essential). If you not sure what the application is research the application file name online with google first to determine which programs you want to stop from loading when windows boots. To permanently disable these applications you must go into your Control panel-system-administration tools-component services

In addition, control panel-add/remover programs,  go through the list of programs it lets you remove  programs / applications. it is quite common there are many programs that you no longer use or simalar programs (i.e. two applications that do the same thing, keep the best of the 2) so  pruning can help significantly improve slow startup speeds.

Finally, a great amount of applications run as Windows starts up programs on the peripherals and the internal hardware components on your PC. these applications are managed/run using device drivers (which is basically just software applications). you can improve how they are to be carried out by always make sure that you have the latest version of the device drivers. This can be done using Windows update service, the tool Device Manager for (control panel - system - hardware) or by running computer maintenance software scans to automate the updates.
