Six tips to improve PC Performance

Are you tired of your computer's poor performance? Do you know that your computer programs run more slowly when you first bought it? If the answer is Yes, so don't worry. It is a normal process, and most users fall prey to this problem. This is now the right time to start optimize and improve PC performance to its maximum level.
Before I share the tips, let me give you a number of reasons why a computer is running slowly over time:
-You have installed many programs.
-Your computer might be infected with a virus or spyware.

How can I speed up my PC today

If you are ever in the middle of looking for information on a substance and the computer stopped responding, you've probably asked yourself, "How can I speed up my PC today?"  Fortunately there are many things you can give your computer the boost it needs.
A slowdown will sometimes be due to lack of memory.  You can increase the amount of memory, which will give a significant boost to your computer. Now that you have an answer to the question, "How can I speed up my PC today?" us talk about the steps you can take to run the solution. to do this, you can either increase your virtual memory, or RAM (random access memory).

Increase virtual memory on your computer

Virtual memory is a file stored on your hard disk. Program access this memory as needed.  To optimize your virtual memory, you must go to the "performance options", which is located in Control Panel. When you arrive, you click on "Advanced".Click on "Change" in the virtual memory. Window automatically manage paging file size is the best option; if this field is not selected, you should check it, and then restart the computer.  If this doesn't help your computer run faster, you can ensure that add more RAM.

How to implement a slow PC fix

Many different things can cause PC to become sluggish.  Just as there are several reasons your computer may be acting finicky, there are many ways to improve its performance.  Remove software that you no longer use can increase the amount of available memory.  This will free up space in which the computer can allocate against software that you consistently use.  Defragment your disk drive will also improve the functionality of the computer and combat slow computer performance.
Slow computer fix 1: remove unused Software
Remove software is relatively simple.  If you are using Windows XP, you will go to control panel, and then click the "Add/Remove Programs".  If you are running Vista or Windows 7, you will access the Control Panel, and then click "programs and features".  From there you must search through the list of currently installed programs, locate the program that you don't use.  When you find something that you want to delete, select it by clicking on it. Click "Uninstall".Continue with all the programs you don't use.To get rid of these memory transitional concerns is a slight slow computer patch; some programs can tell you that you need to restart your browser or computer for the changes to take effect; when you're finished, just close your control panel and perform all necessary reboots.

Slow Computer Startup – Fixing Windows Boot Performance

Computer Maintenance

Common techniques and software utilities to apply to slow Windows startup performance. Taking implimenting these will speed up your computer.

Automate slow computer startup using software to sped up your computer.
One of the simpler ways to slow Windows startup performance improvement is to run an automatic repair tool to optimize settings and download/install the latest DLL/device drivers and operating system files for you.

There are also registry editors, but this focus is on only optimizing registry settings. Slow startup performance may improve if it is due to OS application files.

Is your internet browsing or surfing the internet slow?

If so, are you using Internet Explorer??  If so I may have some harsh truth for you.  Internet Explorer is a PIG!  It is like running peanut butter through a strainer.   Microsoft may make a lot of great programs – internet explorer is not one of them.  What is equally amazing and frustrating is they know this and have tried to make it faster and just can not seem to do it.

There are 2 real main alternatives to Internet Explorer and either of these can show you 50% or better surfing performance:

What Determines Speed

There are 4 basic components that determine the speed of your computer.

 They are:

- CPU or Central Processing Unit.  Think of this as your brain.   This is the Intel or AMD chip that is the brains of your computer.  Intel is the market leader with the most powerful chips in the world.  Intel currently holds about 80% of the marketplace.  AMD is a competitor to Intel.  Their market value is price.  If you purchased a rock bottom priced computer chances are it has an AMD processor.  What does this mean to you – nothing!  Years ago there was a compatibility issue with AMD and some programs but this is not an issue for consumer grade computers.   The bad news is CPU’s cannot be upgraded.  The good news is you rarely would ever need to if your computer is less than 3 years old.  Today’s computers have more processing power than you could ever need for 80% of all users.

- Memory.  Think of this as your memory in your mind.  All programs require memory to run.  Think of how you read.  Words come off the paper and into your mind.  Now how much can you remember without

How to speed up Windows XP

The Windows XP operating system (OS) has a longer service life thanks to a stable and secure system to work with. But if these computers are aging is increasingly important to the performance of the machine. This article goes to simple ways to speed up Windows XP without resorting to memory upgrades.

The tasks needed to optimize the performance of your computers must be running on a regular basis as part of regular maintenance and maintenance activities (e.g., get updates, backups, etc.).

Performance options: Windows XP provides configuration options (in Control Panel > System > Advanced) for key performance settings. reducing the Visual effects on older PCs (with bad video cards) will release a lot of CPU power. To increase the virtual memory will help accelerate all applications, as well as the operating system.

Malware checks: find and remove viruses as often as possible. If present, they can corrupt system files and use resources as they run in the background.
Start times: you can speeding up Windows boot times by using the Microsoft Configuration (go to start > run > Enter "msconfig"). "boot" tab allows you to turn off services that are initialized when Windows boots.Only disable applications that you are familiar with.

Disk: disk drives must also be maintained their performance to improve disk access Windows. Run disk defragment every few weeks to consolidate fragmented files (improves access times) and select the drive of temporary file to 10% free capacity (improves the functioning of the virtual memory).

Running Applications: open Task Manager (processes tab) and analyze what software uses lots of memory. these should be checked to see if (I) there are known problems with the performance (ii) the software updates are available, or (iii) closed down if it is not in use. Don't close your antivirus software processes.

Consequences of viruses, malware and spyware

Not adequately protecting yourself from these threats can result in:

Damage to your computer hardware ( CPU, Bios, Hard drive ) this can cost you a lot money replacing them.

Your personal information and data can be stolen (Credit Card information, Your name and address, Bank Information, Account information.

Your computer running slow, Crashing, Freezing. Your internet browser being re-directed to unscrupulous webpages full of more threats to your system.

All of the above could be avioded with a little knowledge and prevention.

What Is Spyware

Spyware refers to programs that use your Internet connection to send information from your personal computer to some other computer, normally without your knowledge or permission. Most often this information is a record of your ongoing browsing habits, downloads, or it could be more personal data like your name and address.

What is MALWARE?

Malware is an abbreviated term used to describe a "malicious software" program. Malware includes things like spyware or adware programs, such as tracking cookies, which are used to monitor your habits. It also includes more sinister items, such as keyloggers, Trojan horses, worms, and viruses.

Programs classified as malware has only one purpose, to destroy your computer or steal your personal data.

What Are BOTS?

A bot is a compromised computer which is running software that allows a remote computer to control it.

The software is usually installed by someone breaking into the computer, but can also be installed by a user who thinks they're installing a game or other software which they have downloaded from a website or recieved via Instant Messenger

It is often difficult to detect a bot infected computer without looking at the network traffic it is generating.

There are many different kinds of bot software (and most bots can update themselves automatically), new versions are always being created, and the bot software itself can take steps to avoid being detected, so frequently the bot software cannot be detected when a computer is scanned for viruses and spyware.

What are Computer Viruses?

Computer viruses are programs written by unscrupolious people. These virus programs are placed into a commonly used program so that program will run the attached virus program as it boots. The virus "infects" the executable file of program.

A ".exe"  file is the file that you click on to start a program on your computer.

For example: When you click on your internet explorer icon on your desktop, it runs the " iexplorer.exe " file.

A virus is inactive until you execute an infected program or application OR start your computer from a disk that has infected system files. Once a virus is active, it loads into your computer's memory and may save itself to your hard drive or copies itself to applications or system files on disks you use.

Some viruses are programmed specifically to damage the data on your computer by corrupting programs, deleting files, or even erasing your entire hard drive.

Many viruses do nothing more than display a message or make sounds / verbal comments at a certain time or a programming event after replicating themselves to be picked up by other users one way or another.

Other viruses make your computer's system behave erratically or crash frequently.

Sadly many people who have problems or frequent crashes using their computers do not realize that they have a virus and live with the inconveniences.

Common signs of a virus/malware infection:

  1. Computer becomes slow all of a sudden
  2. Pop up windows start to appear even if you are not visiting a website
  3. Different site appears when you visit a url
  4. CPU activity even when you are not doing anything
  5. Cannot open specific computer functions like Task Manager or Control Panel
  6. Cannot access Antivirus/Help Websites
  7. Keeps on redirecting to a site that has a "Legit-Looking" Antivirus (do not download it)
  8. An icon appears on your status bar besides the clock saying you need to update an antivirus program or you are infected and needs to download a program
  9. Programs in your computer starts to malfunction
  10. Antivirus program suddenly becomes expired or not updated
  11. Antivirus cannot start by itself or cannot update
  12. Computer shuts down for no reason
  13. Files are getting deleted or renamed
  14. Icons for known programs becomes noticably different
  15. Unknown .com or .exe just appears on your C:\ or D:\
  16. No internet connection
  17. You can only browse one website or any site you browse goes back to a single site
  18. Computer components like lightings and cd-rom starts to function without your intervention
  19. Screen/keyboard/cpu Freezes
  20. Deleted icons/programs/links on desktop re-appear even when you deleted it.

Why is my computer so slow all of a sudden

If you're wondering why is my computer is so slow suddenly finds this article will show you some ordinary computer repair and maintenance checks and techniques for solving the most common causes of this problem.

Is the computer overheating?
If the CPU or hard drive starts to overheat than they fast in performance will degrade, even during simple edits and components parts will eventually fail.Check the BIOS menu for diagnostic information on fan speeds and CPU temperature. If these above guidelines than to ensure that all openings and air intakes to the PC are unblocked. for desktop PCs, open the housing and clear out all dust using a can of compressed air from the heat sink, the fans and fan filters.

Is there a virus on your PC?

The presence of a bug on a computer (for example, adware, malware, Trojan viruses, etc.) can spoil the operating system and cause problems with the performance. run a full scan of your hard drive and a USB memory drives you are using.
If the applications not damage to the Windows registry (a core operating system file that is used to repair for configuring applications) then use a registry cleaner or PC repair tool to recover from the damage.

I offer very good, Very Adequate, "100% free" anti-virus and anti-malware on my blog. But there is no one "free" software out there designed to keep your PC completely safe. The free versions are "just a taste" of the paid versions of the same software. Think about it... If they made the free version to protect your PC 100% who would need their paid version?

If your budget permits it. I recommend you buy the Best of the Best Anti-virus/malware Kaspersky 2011. This is more effective than Norton's and Macafee counterparts.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Is your hard disk space full?
The operating system Windows recommends that normally 10% of the disk space freed (or 200 MB) for use by the virtual memory paging file.Virtual memory is used by all programs are process commands. If this is is limited due to the hard drive filling up will then OS performance dramatically worsen.
Get rid of old applications that you are no longer needed, and you use the disk cleanup tool (accessories, System Tools) cookies, temporary files and data in the cache. when my computer is running slow after copying large bulky files to the drive (for example, MP3 files), then this is the first item check I think.

10 Tips to Make Your Computer Run Faster

1. Upgrade Your RAM
Yeah, the most obvious tip but people hardly upgrade it. RAM these days is very cheap, especially if you buy it through Amazon or eBay. When I checked Amazon, the price of 1 GB RAM was around $20-$30.

2. Get Rid of Unneeded Software
Most PCs come shipped with unneeded software. Uninstall all of them. I’m sure there are better alternatives to those software. For example, my PC came shipped from hp with lots of bloatware such as HP Image Zone, Norton AntiVirus 2004, Record Now! CD & DVD Burning software etc. I uninstalled all of them and replaced them with better software like Picasa and Nero.

3. Keep Only One Browser
This is part of the getting rid of unneeded applications but I decided to separate it because so many people
