How to speed up Windows XP

The Windows XP operating system (OS) has a longer service life thanks to a stable and secure system to work with. But if these computers are aging is increasingly important to the performance of the machine. This article goes to simple ways to speed up Windows XP without resorting to memory upgrades.

The tasks needed to optimize the performance of your computers must be running on a regular basis as part of regular maintenance and maintenance activities (e.g., get updates, backups, etc.).

Performance options: Windows XP provides configuration options (in Control Panel > System > Advanced) for key performance settings. reducing the Visual effects on older PCs (with bad video cards) will release a lot of CPU power. To increase the virtual memory will help accelerate all applications, as well as the operating system.

Malware checks: find and remove viruses as often as possible. If present, they can corrupt system files and use resources as they run in the background.
Start times: you can speeding up Windows boot times by using the Microsoft Configuration (go to start > run > Enter "msconfig"). "boot" tab allows you to turn off services that are initialized when Windows boots.Only disable applications that you are familiar with.

Disk: disk drives must also be maintained their performance to improve disk access Windows. Run disk defragment every few weeks to consolidate fragmented files (improves access times) and select the drive of temporary file to 10% free capacity (improves the functioning of the virtual memory).

Running Applications: open Task Manager (processes tab) and analyze what software uses lots of memory. these should be checked to see if (I) there are known problems with the performance (ii) the software updates are available, or (iii) closed down if it is not in use. Don't close your antivirus software processes.
